Position Description:

Lilly Neuroscience is seeking an experienced scientist (Bachelors or Masters) to join the Neurodegeneration team to facilitate its mission of discovering novel medicines for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, ALS, and other related neurodegenerative conditions. The individual will join a laboratory focused on in vivo research to support our expanding neurodegeneration portfolio, and they will leverage their technical expertise to lead high quality studies and sample collection to support identification/development of novel targets for Neurodegenerative conditions. A key focus of the scientist will be the utilization of multiple in vivo techniques including complex surgical models to support therapeutic investigations in pre-clinical animal models. Importantly, the individual will collaborate with colleagues across the Neurodegeneration group to facilitate both exploratory and portfolio workstreams. The scientist must possess a strong work ethic and an ability to quickly master numerous new techniques. Lilly has a proud record of drug development for neurodegenerative diseases that has been driven by a highly collaborative and diverse team of accomplished scientists.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

• Lead and conduct in vivo studies from start to finish, including all sample collection
• Perform all core in vivo dosing techniques as well as lab specific methods
• Master and perform rodent surgical techniques
• Perform key lab techniques associated in vivo work (pipetting, sample/solution prep)

Basic Requirements:

• BS/MS in Biology, Animal Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related field with 1+ years of post-degree relevant academic or industry work experience.

Additional Preferences:

• Strong skills and significant experience in developing/ performing in vivo applications.
• Accurate, timely record keeping and data collection with clear organization.
• Clear communication of data with supervisor and project teams. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
• Prior experience in CSF collection and ICV injections
• Some experience with biochemical assays (ELISA/Westerns)
• Knowledge in neurodegenerative disorders
• Drug development experience.
• Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills
