A key Optimus client is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Strategic Initiatives Manager to join our dynamic team in our London office. This role offers the opportunity to be part of our strategic initiatives team, supporting the operational aspects of our commercial business.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational support of strategic initiatives
  • Onboard new trading desks
  • Expand trading businesses into new markets and products
  • Manage significant corporate projects
  • Work with front office and leadership to
    • Review projects
    • Manage projects
    • Recommend and execute on new business implementation and market entry
    • Lead cross functional collaboration on commercial and corporate endeavors
    • Collaborate or manage business process efficiency initiatives
    • Manage new business and new asset implementation efforts including:
    • documentation of business and system requirements,
    • facilitating cross-functional discussions,
    • ownership of system setup and testing,
    • project planning,
    • coordinating task completion across functional areas (Trading, Risk, P&L, Tax, Technology, Ops, Accounting)
    • Establish operational risk and control processes for new business activities.
    • Provide onboarding and support to new traders
    • Connect new initiatives with existing global processes
    • Partner with the IT organization on system enhancements and requirements.
    • Contribute to ad-hoc strategic and corporate projects as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in cross-departmental initiatives, business management, risk, trade support, or operations in the energy trading industry.
  • Understanding of P&L, trade valuation methodologies, and experience in onboarding new business lines.
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more commodity products such as Power, Oil, or Natural Gas.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and initiatives independently.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Previous experience with ETRM systems preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, commercial mindset, and integrity.
