Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director's Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department's guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

Position Summary

Report directly to the Head Football Coach. Advise the Head Football Coach on matters related to the football program. Mentor the Offensive Coaching staff including coaches, graduate assistant coaches and quality control personnel. Evaluate offensive prospective student athletes and assist the Head Football Coach and the Executive Director of Recruiting in matters relative to player evaluation. Provide detailed scouting analysis of all upcoming opponents offensive schemes and personnel to the Head Football Coach. Evaluate current student athletes and advise them on their potential for professional football opportunities. Follow all UNC, NCAA and ACC rules, guidelines and standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor's degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

5 years of college coaching or NFL coaching experience. Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Work experience that is directly related to area of employment. Must have extensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Must be able to communicate effectively.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume work environment. Attention to detail essential. Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends as necessary. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Travel required.
