Job Description

This position is for a highly motivated individual to provide oversight and accuracy of security cash flows used across the investment platform, such as accruals, detailed payment cash flow schedules, portfolio level forecasts and investable cash, in the Cash Operations group in Investment Operations.

Business Operations is responsible for the comprehensive support of HIMCO's Investment Operating Platform, along with Enterprise Services, such as Project Management and Business Resiliency. The Senior Analyst role may be in any of the functional teams in Business Operations responsible for processing and maintaining investment trade, cash, position, and security reference data that is widely used throughout the investment process from decision making to end state reporting.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

Successful incumbents will:
  • Process and maintain investment activity in the Trading and Accounting systems for Public Fixed Income, Equity, Alternative Assets and Derivatives in HIMCO's client portfolios
  • Daily activities could include Trade Confirmation and Settlement, Cash Publishing and Reconciliation, Asset Reconciliation, Security Master Maintenance, Corporate Action Processing, Derivative Payment Processing and Collateral Management, State Deposit Processing, or other investment support activities
  • Prepare and instruct high value cash and asset transfers in accordance with internal guidelines and with strict protection of clients' confidential banking and investment data
  • Provide timely support to many internal HIMCO clients, including, Portfolio Managers, Investment Sectors, Financial Reporting, Performance Measurement, and Client Reporting Teams
  • Identify and track exceptions in a timely manner following established market specific guidelines
  • Perform detailed analysis of financial payment and settlement information to resolve complex security processing issues with trade counterparties and custodial banks
  • Develop and maintain detailed procedures and evidence of process controls to cross-train peers, support requests from auditors, and fulfil mandated testing of controls in a highly regulated industry
  • Prepare detailed reporting on key performance indicators, such as, trade settlement failures, asset reconciliation breaks, late trade notifications, variances between projected and actual cash payments, overdrawn cash balances, asset variances between market data providers, and many other types of reconciliation variances between internal and external systems
  • Support a mix of daily production work plus ad-hoc inquiries and research as requested by Business Operations Management or by Investment or Accounting Teams
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, custodial banks, trading counterparties, clients, and other external parties, representing HIMCO in a professional manner at all times
  • Strive for continuous process improvement, in particular by working with custodial banks and software vendors to fully utilize system capabilities, implement new tools, and streamline processes
  • Participate in projects within Business Operations as needed, including regulatory or client initiated changes or the testing and implementation support of IT development releases


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Qualified candidates will have the following:
  • BS/BA degree in Finance, Business or related field; MBA or CFA a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in Investment Management Operations or Middle Office roles.
  • Broad understanding of securities processing and settlement practices across Fixed Income and Equity asset management.
  • Prior experience supporting Derivatives or Alternative Asset Operations, such as Commercial Mortgage Loans, Private Equity, Private Direct Lending, Private Placement Debt, is required for this role.
  • Experienced with Bloomberg for Public Asset research and with Excel for reporting and analytics.
  • Familiarity with Investment, Accounting, and Performance Measurement systems required.
  • High degree of initiative and intellectual curiosity, especially in Investments.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, detail oriented, and strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be a collaborator, problem solver, critical thinker, possess integrity and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently on concurrent tasks and adhere to deadlines with evolving priorities.
  • Able to meet high expectations for precision and accuracy.
  • Willingness to take ownership of complex workflows and projects.
  • Used to measuring work volume through detailed metrics, KPIs, reporting, trend analyses, etc.
  • Understanding of daily Futures and Cleared OTC Swap daily margining is a plus.
  • Experience with Aladdin, Maximis or Singularity a plus.
  • Experience with DTCC Trade Suite products, CTM, MarkitWire, TriOptim or Wall Street Office a plus.


This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$100,440 - $147,560
