Audio Visual Support Lead

The Audio Visual (AV) Support Lead is responsible for supporting the College of Southern Nevada's Digital Experience (DxS) as it relates to the installation and troubleshooting of audiovisual (AV) technology in classrooms and other event spaces, including demonstrations, training, and the maintenance of AV technology equipment and systems.

In addition to AV solutions, DxS also provides core computing, network services, enterprise systems, and information security resources to students, faculty, and staff. DxS also collaborates with technology experts campus-wide to provide specialized AV and IT resources to academic and business units.

The successful candidate for this position will have strong AV technology skills, the ability to work in collaboration with various groups of people, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the interest in working on projects across multiple Campuses and locations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and support AV service needs throughout CSN for inside and outside clients, including conferences, lectures, meetings, performances, and special events
  • Act as an additional point of contact and conduct tours of campus facilities for potential clients
  • Consult with users on event needs and make AV equipment and labor recommendations
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of annual major campus events such as Commencement, New Student Orientation and Convocation (and, as appropriate, other large-scale events)
  • Interact with clients in anticipation of and during events, ensuring the highest level of quality and customer service for all conferences, events, and services
  • Coordinate AV staffing needs for special events
  • Assist with webcasts, podcasts, video, and audio teleconferences
  • Recruit, train and supervise the training of student workers on Sound, Lighting, Staging, and rigging as it pertains to classroom A/V technology and all internal/external events
  • Prepare facilities for requested AV services and troubleshoots media-related concerns
  • Train users in equipment usage
  • Maintain equipment inventories, monitor equipment check-out/return, and recommend system upgrades
  • Operate complex, state-of-the-art sound, lighting and media presentation systems
  • Engage in research for the purchase of audio, lighting, and video equipment
  • Repair and maintain audio, video, and lighting equipment regularly
  • Creatin schedules, assign work and give direction to part-time student workers, in order to complete their work assignments
  • Move and transport objects such as projectors, screens, monitors, equipment carts, AV racks, and AV podia with weight up to 50lbs (frequency of working with the maximum weight may be up to several times a month)
  • Travel between buildings and campuses during inclement weather
  • Move cart-based equipment between buildings
  • Work in enclosed spaces in the vicinity of numerous electronic components
  • Navigate in enclosed spaces in the vicinity of numerous electronic components
  • Research, plan, and install technology systems
  • Plan and perform regular maintenance for classrooms, conference rooms and other campus spaces with AV technology needs
  • Train and mentor students and staff regarding technology issues
  • Ensure guidelines and protocols are met for all AV systems
  • Collaborate with contractors as needed

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university
  • In lieu of undergraduate degree, the ratio is 1:1 - meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa
  • Experience in programming Extron/Crestron is highly desired.

Experience
  • Customarily has at least 6 years of audio-visual experience
  • Customarily has at least 5 years of technical experience
  • Customarily has at least 3 years of mentorship/leadership experience
