Requirements Engineer / Business Analyst

Responsibilities

Peraton seeks a Requirements Engineer / Business Analyst to provide support to a Department of Defense research organization in Monterey, California. The Requirements Engineer / Business Analyst will support the development life cycle of a fast-paced DoD governance and analytics platform. In particular, this role is responsible for acting as liaison to collect and integrate input from the customer, product team and other stakeholders into requirements and technical documents and manuals.

The job duties may vary, though the primary role is supporting the client, product team, engineers, and QA.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting software engineering and cloud infrastructure engineering projects
  • Identifying key stakeholders, conducting facilitation sessions (e.g. focus groups, interviews, etc.), and working with internal/external stakeholders to document the requirements for various software and cloud infrastructure development initiatives- Decomposing high level business and user requirements into functional requirements for use by the product team, engineers, and QA
  • Managing changes to baseline requirements through effective participation in the change control processes
  • Communicating technical topics to customers and non-technical audiences
  • Preparing, writing, and maintaining all technical documentation (e.g. instructional materials, release notes, and standard operating procedures)


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Experience in a technical writing and/or requirements role
  • Previous experience with Business or Program Analysis or Requirements Analysis
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Experience in systems engineering, enterprise architecture, software development, Lean Six Sigma, Agile and/or understanding of the SDLC methodologies
  • Able to communicate clearly and efficiently both verbally and in writing with all levels of personnel - users, team members and Government stakeholders
  • Excellent active listening skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to quickly assimilate to new business processes and technology changes
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage several efforts at once
  • U.S. citizenship
  • The ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio, and/or Microsoft Visio
  • Experience with .NET, C#, SQL
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, DevOps on AWS
  • Experience working within the Department of Defense

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
